We thought it would be fun to have a “get acquainted” visit with our new team member, Kristie Faller, RN. Check it out………..
1. Why did you choose to come to work at Forward Focus Concierge Medicine?
I have known Dr. Schaffel for many years. He was (and still is, by the way) a great diagnostician, fair, a great teacher, with a collaborative style. While considering coming to work at Forward Focus I found that he, Dr. Lasin and Dr. Berliant created a team here with that same collaborative approach, with the highest level of clinical expertise and a warm and caring environment where the patients are treated like family.
2. What has your experience been like at Forward Focus during your first three months?
The entire staff works hard at their job. There is a mutual respect and caring within the patient care team. It is a happy, enjoyable workplace. Dr. Berliant is a pleasure to work with. She is very thorough, caring and collaborative in her approach.
3. I understand you are passionate about patient & family education and care management. Tell me more.
I have learned that the health care process really involves entire families and in some cases a core group of friends and the broader community as well. We do not live in a vacuum. I have also learned that nowadays people need to understand why things need to be done to prevent and/or treat a medical issue. Therefore, it is so important for continuity of care and health outcomes that we take the time to educate our patients and their support teams. That education needs to address both the physical as well as the emotional health of families, a holistic approach.
4. What got you interested in Yoga?
As different issues occurred in my life, I found Yoga to be very therapeutic. The breathing, stretching, movement can reduce stress, help you make friends with your body and improve your overall quality of life. As a health care professional, I was eager to share these tools that I had learned with others knowing how beneficial they can be in the healing process.
5. What are some of things you have done in your craft room?
I am an avid knitter. I was raised in a family of crafters and sewers which included my Grandma, Aunt and Mom. While I knit a variety of pieces, I find baby blankets to be refreshing mindless work. Often the blanket is made before the baby, weird coincidence. However, I really prefer to do more wearable knitting like shawls and sweaters.
