We are fortunate to have Dr. Martha Twaddle and Rabbi Steven Lowenstein team up to talk with us on Wednesday, November 5, via a webinar from 5:30-6:30 pm CST. They will discuss the physical and spiritual journey you or a loved one experiences when diagnosed with a progressive serious illness that requires medical intervention.
Dr. Martha Twaddle combines nearly forty years of experience in the care of seriously ill people and their families in a variety of areas of service. She currently serves as the Medical Director for Palliative Care for the Northwestern Healthsystem. Dr. Twaddle’s unique talents and contributions to the field of Palliative Medicine have helped increase the understanding of and access to this continuum of care, regionally and nationally. She was the recipient of the American Academy of Hospice Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) Lifetime Achievement Award, conferred in March 2019.
Rabbi Lowenstein is currently the Senior Rabbi at Am Shalom congregation in Glencoe, IL. Since his ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in June of 1995, he has served as a rabbi in Chicago, at Temple Sholom in the city from 1995-2002, and at Am Shalom since 2002. He has tried to focus his rabbinate on pastoral care and human relationships. He is the author of For the Love of Being Jewish and For the Love of Israel.
