Bret is passionate about sparking positive change in the lives of each of his patients. Whether it’s less pain, better mobility, greater understanding of how to exercise or simply how to take care of your body across the lifespan, Bret strives to get at the root cause of your most pertinent physical complaints. By doing this, he believes he can better address the problem to help you reach a higher level of function. Bret takes the amount of time that is necessary with each of his patients to actually understand the “why” and not just the “what”. This way, he can individualize his treatment plan to help each of his patients better reach their goals.
When Bret and his wife aren’t playing with their two little ones at the park, he likes to run or play basketball to stay active. When he gets the chance to relax, he chooses to sit and watch the Chicago Bears and Bulls or the Great British Bake Off. Keep your eyes peeled on TV because his family has had season tickets for the Bears for decades, and you may catch him on the “Flex cam” from time to time.
Born and raised in the northern suburbs, Bret received his doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He went on to specialize further by becoming a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist. Bret is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, the highest distinction in the field of orthopeadic physical therapy.
Bret is a self-procllaimed physical therapy nerd in the sense that he has and continues to practice, teach, research and mentor in his field. He currently provides patient care at UI Health in Chicago while teaching pathology of the thoracic spine at University of Illinois at Chicago. Additionally, he both mentors other physical therapists and lectures for Northwestern University's Fellowship in Advanced Orthopedic Physical Therapy Practice, Research and Education.
